Send songs to one person, straight from your computer, and chats that feel alive.

Songs to one person

  • In a private chat, the song button sends to them only: no group sees it. Pick as many songs as you like, they go as one box (Download all, or one by one).
  • Right-click songs, Send to…, to send them to anyone you chat with. A song request’s Send it goes straight to them too (In the group shares it there instead).
  • Play a song sent to you before downloading it, while they’re online. It comes with its cover, and lands in your My Library under From friends.
  • Songs never go through Nadirect’s server: they come from the sender’s computer when you’re both online. A download that’s waiting can be cancelled.

Chat

  • See when they’re typing, who’s online (the green dot) and when they’ve seen your message (two ticks).
  • Someone who’s your friend and in a group with you is one chat now. Messages to a friend go straight between your computers while you’re both online, and wait on the server for them when you’re not.
  • Short chats sit by the message box, and photos you send look right.

Songs and profiles

  • Right-click any song for its file: format, bitrate, size, length and whether it plays on CDJs. Look it up opens YouTube, SoundCloud, Beatport, Spotify or Apple Music.
  • Right-click a song in someone’s crate to ask for it or look it up.
  • Apple Music on your profile, and each network’s own colours.

Mac

  • ⌘Q closes the window and Nadirect keeps sharing from the menu bar. Quit Nadirect there to stop it.

Picking songs

  • Click a song to pick it, Shift-click for a run of songs, Ctrl-click (⌘ on a Mac) to add or take one away. Double-click plays.
  • ↑/↓ move (with Shift, pick more), Ctrl+A picks all, Esc none, Enter plays.
  • Delete (⌘⌫ on a Mac) removes the songs you picked, after one question: from the group the ones you may remove, from My Library out of the folder you’re in. Ctrl+D downloads them, Ctrl+E shows the file.
  • Drag one of the songs you picked and they all go.

Moving around

  • Ctrl+1 to 9 (⌘ on a Mac) open the sidebar’s pages in the order you see them.
  • In the sidebar ↑/↓ open the page above or below; → goes into the page (the genres, then the songs, or your chats, then the message box), ← comes back.
  • The group card opens with → or Enter, ↑/↓ inside, ← or Esc to close.
  • Ctrl+F goes to the search on the page. Chats have a search of their own now.
  • A clearer ring shows where the keyboard is.

Your crate on your profile, asking friends for songs, and your library in numbers.

Your crate

  • Show folders from My Library on your profile (or all of it) to your friends or to everyone. Only the list of songs is shared, never the files. Edit profile, Your crate.
  • Tabs for each folder, a search, and Show all in a box that scrolls on its own, however big the crate.
  • Songs you both have are marked. For the rest, Ask for it: they get it in the chat with Send it or No, and Send it puts the song in your group and sends it to you.

Your library in numbers

  • Songs, minutes, size and how much is CDJ-ready, your formats and top artists: on your profile, and with Stats in My Library.

Your profile

  • 245 genres to choose your top 3 from, each with its icon (metal and many more). The main ones first, the rest a search away.
  • The podium takes your banner’s colours, or pick your own for each place.
  • Clearer parts: you, your sound, your crate, your library.

Fixed

  • Photos and videos in chat send again; one that can’t be sent says why.
  • Sharing a song from My Library brings your title, artist, album and cover into the group.
  • WAVs cut short can be fixed for CDJs, and downloaded WAVs that came without a check are checked on your computer.
  • Your chat messages in light grey; replies and songs fit the small chat windows.

Edit your own songs in My Library, just like in the group.

My Library

  • Right-click a song, Edit details and artwork: change its title, artist, album, folder and cover (choose a picture, drop one on it, or remove it).
  • Only My Library changes: the file itself and your groups aren’t touched, and what you edit stays as you set it.

Dropping music works again, and My Library shows every song the way your group does.

Fixed

  • Dropping files on a genre on the drop screen adds them again, sub-genres too (hold on a genre to open it, then drop).
  • Songs in My Library show the cover, artist and album your group has for them, even when the file has none. Songs you added before fill in by themselves.
  • A song in one group can be shared with another: right-click it in My Library, Share with Night Owls (or whichever group is open).

Small things

  • Drop files on All music and you’re asked which genre they go in.
  • A My Library song already in the open group says so in its menu.
  • Click the pictures on a tip to see the next one.

Several groups, Friends, and a profile that’s yours: Nadirect gets social.

Several groups

  • Be in as many groups as you like. Hover or click the group card to switch, join another with an invite code, or start your own (one each).
  • Each group keeps its own music folder, and a song keeps playing when you switch.
  • Removed from a group? You’re told straight away, and its page says so.

Friends

  • Everyone has a Nadirect ID, like K7Q-2MX. Add a friend by their ID or find them by name, or right-click someone in your group.
  • Invite a friend into a group you run: they click Join and they’re in, no waiting for approval.
  • Message friends even when you share no group. Messages are locked on your computer before they leave, so only the two of you can read them.
  • See who’s online right now. Requests, answers and messages arrive the moment they’re sent.

Your profile

  • A page of your own: a banner, a bio, your top 3 genres, your socials, and a song on repeat that people can play.
  • Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar to see it, or anyone’s name to see theirs.

Chat

  • One chat for all your groups and friends. Someone in several of your groups is one conversation.
  • Right-click a chat to pin it to the top, mute it, archive it or delete it.

Everywhere

  • Songs without a cover get the Nadirect tile in their own colour.
  • The Terms of Use changed (what Nadirect’s server sees, and blocking), so you’re asked to agree again.

My Library: your own music, your way. Plus your profile, group photos and sorting.

My Library

  • A library of your own, only on this computer and never shared. Folders go inside folders as deep as you like, with your own names and colours.
  • Songs stay where they are: My Library only remembers where you put them. A song can be in several folders, and a moved file is found again.
  • Drop, paste or pick songs to add them. From the group’s Library, right-click Add to My Library (songs not downloaded yet are downloaded first). From My Library, right-click Share with the group.
  • Right-click Fix for CDJs works here too, and Recently added lets you play your latest songs straight away.
  • No group yet, or waiting to be approved? My Library works anyway.

You and your group

  • Your profile: your name and photo, set once on the first page and used for every group you join. Already in a group? It was filled in for you.
  • Admins can give the group a photo. It shows in the sidebar, on Home and in the group chat.
  • The sidebar keeps My Library apart from the group’s pages, under the group’s name and photo.

Everywhere

  • Sort any song list: click a column heading, again to reverse it.
  • The player folds down to a thin strip; click it to open it again.
  • Settings → Security explains in plain words how Nadirect keeps you safe.
  • Covers no longer show as broken images, dropped files are always welcome on the song list, and the window has no menu bar.

Fix songs for CDJs any time, and a livelier Home.

Ready for the CDJs

  • Right-click a song marked ⚠ to fix it. Your own song is fixed for everyone, keeping its name and its downloads. Anyone else’s is fixed only on your computer, under the same name.
  • Every song now says whether it plays on CDJs: MP3, AAC and AIFF on every one, FLAC and ALAC on the CDJ-3000 and NXS2, OGG and Opus on none.
  • Songs added before the CDJ check are now checked too (before, the check skipped them).

Home

  • Tips about what Nadirect can do turn along the top of Home, with covers from your library.
  • The featured song’s Play and Download buttons take the colours of its cover.

See what you missed, and fixes for adding and removing songs.

What’s new

  • Skipped a version or two? The update shows what’s new in each one, and after updating What’s new opens with every version you missed marked New.
  • Removing your own song only takes it off your list, so you can add it again any time.
  • Admins and co-admins can bring back a removed song by adding it again. It’s back for everyone.

Fixes

  • Files dropped where nothing takes them now say “Nothing was added” and where to drop them, instead of nothing happening.
  • The chat bar no longer covers the message after adding music.

A CDJ check for WAVs, and a nicer way to update.

Ready for the CDJs

  • Every WAV you add is checked for Pioneer CDJs. If one won’t play (32-bit float, the “extensible” header behind error E-8305, odd sample rates, surround), Nadirect tells you why before adding it.
  • Fix and add: a CDJ-ready copy with the same name goes into your Nadirect folder. Your original file stays as it is.
  • Add as they are: everyone sees a ⚠ next to the song, with the reason, so nobody finds out at the gig.
  • Right-click a song to see whether it plays on CDJs, or only on the CDJ-3000 and NXS2.
  • WAVs you added before are checked once in the background.

Updates

  • New versions show what’s new in a popup, with Restart and update or Later. Later installs it the next time you close Nadirect.
  • Settings → Updates: install a waiting update any time, and read What’s new for every version.

Also

  • Hover tips no longer hide behind the song name or the drag hint.

Chat with photos and videos, sub-genres, and a new Downloads page.

Chat

  • Chat with the whole group, or privately with one friend. Private chats can only be read by the two of you.
  • Send photos and videos: attach them, paste a screenshot, or drop files in (up to 10 per message). Click one to see it full screen.
  • Share songs in chat. Friends can play or download them right from the message.
  • Reply, react, edit and delete messages. Unread counts, and mute for any conversation.
  • Chat from any page: a Chat bar in the corner opens conversations in small windows. Right-click a friend to message them.
  • Notifications for new messages, even when Nadirect is in the background.

Library

  • Sub-genres: genres can hold sub-genres, like Techno › Dark Techno. Pick them from a folder-style list on the left.
  • Genre colours: admins can give any genre its own colour.
  • Add music faster: drop files on a genre (hold over one to open it), or copy songs in File Explorer or Finder and paste them with Ctrl+V / ⌘V.
  • Clearer results when adding music: what was added, where it went, and why anything couldn’t be.

Downloads (was Transfers)

  • History: every song you’ve downloaded, newest first.
  • Downloaded from you: who downloaded your songs, and who is getting music from you right now.
  • Most downloaded: Home shows the top 10 songs in the group. Hover a download count to see who.

Settings

  • Sounds: pick the sounds for new messages, music added and errors, or turn them all off.
  • Sharing: choose how many people can download from you at once. The default upload limit is now 2 MB/s.

Also

  • A simpler, tidier Admin page. Sections fold open and closed.
  • Terms of use about sharing music you have the right to share. You’re asked to agree once.
  • Cleaner confirmations, slimmer scrollbars, and many small fixes.
  • Everyone should update: friends on an older version won’t see photos or videos in chat.

  • If the file for one of your songs goes missing, friends don’t see it until you locate it again. Nadirect names each missing file and lets you find it.
