Accessibility

Nadirect should work for every DJ. Here's what we've done, what we're still working on, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

Our aim

We aim for this website and the app to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This includes the requirements of Israeli Standard 5568 (based on WCAG 2.0 at level AA), as required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013.

The accessibility menu

The accessibility menu is at the bottom left of this page (on a phone, tap the round blue button to open it). You can reach this page from the Accessibility link at the bottom of every page, and while any setting is on, a round blue button at the bottom left of every page keeps the menu one click away. It lets you:

  • make the text larger, in steps up to 150%;
  • turn on high contrast;
  • highlight every link;
  • switch to a plain, readable font;
  • stop all animations;
  • use a big cursor;
  • add more space between lines, letters and words.

Your choices are saved in your browser, so they stay on as you move between pages and when you come back. "Reset all" turns them off. The menu is part of this website. It loads nothing from other companies and sends nothing anywhere.

This website

  • Everything works with a keyboard, and you can always see where you are. A "Skip to content" link comes first.
  • The header bar slides away while you scroll down and comes back when you scroll up or move to it with the keyboard.
  • If your system is set to reduce motion, the animations stop: the features become a plain list and the stories show how they end.
  • The animations only show what the text already says, so you miss nothing if you skip them.
  • Every screenshot has a description for screen readers.
  • Light and dark mode follow your system, and you can switch with the button in the header.
  • Text keeps its contrast in both modes, and the page works zoomed to 200% and on small screens.

The app

  • You can use it from the keyboard: arrows move through songs, Shift and Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) pick several, Enter plays and Esc clears.
  • Light and dark themes, following your system or your choice.
  • Every song's details (format, length, whether it plays on CDJs) are written out as text, not only shown as icons or colours.

What we're still working on

  • We haven't finished testing the app with screen readers (Narrator, NVDA and VoiceOver). Some parts may not read well yet.
  • The waveforms and covers are visual only. The information they carry is also shown as text.
